Detroit Muscle Gym (DMG), is a strength training/wellness facility that has been part of the Plymouth, Michigan community since 2017. With a change of ownership in 2022 came a new, community-driven focus along with several exciting new amenities and features, including additional space and equipment, a super-popular kids’ strongman class and annual competition, adult classes, several in-house trainers, and so much more. Today we are proud to be an integral part of the Michigan / Midwest strength community, hosting several iconic and unique events each year showcasing athletes in sports including strongman, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, kettlebell sports, the grip sport of Armlifting, and more. One of our main goals now is to continue to expand on our commitment to giving back to our communities and become an even more effective resource for the people we serve.

So this year, we turn our attention to the problem of suicide in our communities. In 2022, there were 1,492 deaths by suicide in Michigan. Veterans, first responders, and youth remain especially vulnerable populations. On September 27th, Detroit Muscle Gym will host Strength Over Suicide, a strength event and fundraiser for Six Feet Over, a local suicide prevention charity which provides financial and emotional support for survivors of suicide loss and individuals with lived experience of suicide, while engaging in community prevention through mental health education and advocacy to support healthier futures.

We’re hoping you might join us in working to combat suicide in our communities. Together, we can achieve the goal of Zero Suicide in the state of Michigan.
